Tweet, Tweet, Pay Attention to Me!

Tweet, Tweet, Pay Attention to Me!

I have been resisting for a long time now but today I took the plunge and joined Twitter. I truly believe that social media is an extremely powerful tool for small business owners, let’s see what it does for Elastic Mind and this blog.

What is Twitter?

Twitter is described as a microblogging site. Essentially, it’s purpose is to inform your “friends” (I put friends in quotes because my real-life friends are nowhere to be found on Twitter. They aren’t web geeks or business owners) of what you are doing right now. Sound useless? I thought so too. But there are business benefits to it.

Here is a simple explanation of what it is.

How Twitter can help your small business

  1. Anyone mentioning your business, your brand, you, etc.
  2. People talking about topics that are of interest to you. For example, I searched “Innerpreneur”. There was nobody talking about it. So I search creative entrepreneur and found some like-minded souls.

I recommend downloading HubSpot’s amazingly helpful guide to using Twitter for business.
