I got the idea from Dave Pollard author of the blog, How to Save the World. He got the idea from Beth Adams. Basically you sit for half an hour and write 30 thoughts/questions that enter your mind. It’s a fun exercise but beyond that I’m not sure what value it creates. I wrote my questions over Pho at my neighbourhood Vietnamese restaurant.

  1. What is the line between empathy and judgment?
  2. At what point did human’s start ignoring that they are animals too?
  3. Why do some people take pleasure in others’ pain?
  4. Why are people fearful of that which is different?
  5. Why do we want to feel superior to others?
  6. Why is the mainstream media so mindless and ill-informed?
  7. What causes someone to become more conscious?
  8. Do I deserve to be happy?
  9. Why do people think that they have to ‘work’ for happiness?
  10. When did ‘fun’ become a bad word?
  11. Why do people push their expectations on others?
  12. Why do some women glare at other women?
  13. Why do we focus on our weaknesses?
  14. How important is human reproduction? Is it necessary that I reproduce?
  15. Why do people wear sunglasses indoors?
  16. What makes someone love their life? Hate their life?
  17. What is the real colour of my hair?
  18. Does history matter?
  19. Why don’t we realize how insignificant this moment in time is?
  20. What/who caused the Big Bang?
  21. Where is line between crazy and genius?
  22. Why do people think love = sacrifice?
  23. Why do we try and change each other?
  24. Will we ever ‘wake up’?
  25. What is the next natural disaster to happen due to climate change?
  26. Why are people so f’ing lazy?
  27. Why is there no public recycling in the United States?
  28. Will there be any animals left when it is all said and done?
  29. What happened after this shot was taken?
  30. Why do most people think more about what they are putting on their body than in it?

    Tara,

It seems quite a neat idea to go through a half an hour intellectual exercise and try to generate effortlessly 30 thoughts/questions that
enter your mind.Although there could be some doubts if the effort can create a certain value, it may give a fair orientation of the reflective
self consciousness that such a list may reveal. The “Glass Half Empty” is such a challenging example for tickling our troubled by the chaotic
reality brains. I wish that I could be able finally to state quietly as a true Taoist: The glass is simply what it is, and so is what is contained in it.”
Or generate spontaneously:”This too shall pass.” Or:”It was worth it, I learned something.” Ask yourself:Will it matter in ten years' time?;Don't
look back, you may miss the life in front. Those who really want something will find a way. Those who really don't will find a reason. Don't tell
me the sky is the limit, when there are footprints on the moon.Be the change you wish to see in the world. If there is no wind…row, etc.
Asking the right questions is an art that determines some sensible answers. The trouble nowdays is that somehow we seem to escape a healthy
dialog that may clarify some important questions leading to some badly needed answers!? How easily we tend to forget that one should never
skim on his bed or shoes, because if you are not in one, you'll be in the other.”Men have turned into savage beasts and ultimately lost their
reason.”-W.Shakespeare. Don't hurt young children. Don't kill animals unless you are attacked or in need of food. When walking outside don't disturb anyone.
If someone is disturbing you, ask him to stop, if this does not help get rid of him.
    Thinking of Tara Joyce, I would ask:”What causes someone to become more conscious?”;”Where is the line between crazy and genius?” ;
“Why do people think love+sacrifice?”; and finally the Central Question: “Will we ever wake up?”

As for Tara ? She is allowed to” Shoot First, Think Later.” Why? Since her Story, Purpose,Message is the Best Design Inspiration there is.

You always present such interesting ideas, Mike and in such an
eloquent way. I'd love to hear what questions you come up with in 30
    uninterrupted minutes.

'Why am I doing this? Who cares? Why do they care? Do I care about that? If so, why? If not, why? Am I too bothered by external stuff? Why? If not, why? How can I better live the life I want? What *is* that life? Is it all bollocks?'

Now, that *does* create value. Why? Wash, rinse, repeat.

You've got 17 more questions to go, g. Or do the “if's” not count as
    questions?

Since you seem to be a man with the answer's — can you tell me what
my real hair colour is? Perhaps washing, rinsing and repeating will
    bring me that answer too.

    Tara,

Following your reply, I decided that sparing 30 minutes for generating a list of thoughts/ questions is a worthwhile exercise
at least for my gray cells that are objectively diminishing. So here I am, trying to be reflective:
-Are you a male or female?; How old are you?; The only constant thing in life is change.; It is better to regret something you have done
than something you haven't.; If not you then who? And if not now, then when?;Whether you think you can or you think you can't – you're usually right.
7)The way we spend our days is, of course, the way we spend our lives.
8)Make your luck. You will catch more flies with honey than with vinegar.
9)If you always do what you have always done, you'll always get what you've always got.
    10)Suffer fools gladly.
11)Turn your face to the sun and the shadows will fall behind you.
    12) If there is anything unsettled to the stomach, it's watching actors on television talk about their personal lives.
13)If you want to live a happy life, tie to a goal, not to people or objects.
14)If you are failing every now and again, it's a sign you're playing it safe.
15)If your happiness depends on what somebody else does. I guess you do have a problem.
16)If you can put a Question,'Am I or am I not responsible for my acts?' then you are responsible.
17)If you have accomplished all that you have planned for yourself, you have not planned enough.
    18) If a small thing has the power to make you angry, does that not indicate something about your size?
19)If you are lonely while you're alone, you are in a bad company.
20)If one is a greyhound, why try to look like a Pekineses?
21)If you want to lift yourself up, lift up someone else.
22)If you don't tell the truth about yourself you cannot tell it about other people.
23)If you deliberately plan to be less than you are capable of being, then I warn you that you'll be deeply unhappy for the rest of your life.
24)If the only tool you have is the hammer, you tend to see every problem as a nail.
25)If you haven't struck oil in the first three minutes – stop boring.
26)If women were cars( or sports, or video games), men would have no trouble expressing how they feel.
    27) If you have many reasons to be happy, don't mention them to unhappy people.
28)If you are offended by bad odors don't rummage around in the trash.
29)If you're a surviving and conforming subsystem in a sick organism, that does not mean you're healthy either.
30)It is best to give others the impression that you can change your mind easily.
31)Never tell anyone the real reason you did something unless it is useful to do so.
    32) Once a truly intelligent person makes up his mind about the answer to a problem he rarely continues to think about it.
33)All in all, it is better to be humble and honest than to be important and dishonest.
34)The world would be a much better place to live in if people let the future take care of itself and concern themselves only with enjoying the present.
35)It is wise to flatter important people.
36)It is a good working policy to keep on good terms with everybody.
