The World Is Flat by Thomas L. Friedman is a brilliant, inspiring book about globalization, it’s rise and the opportunities it creates for individual empowerment.
I read this book after having just returned from a half-a-year traveling bout and the ideas I found in it truly inspired me.
The basic idea that Friedman presents is that as the internet and other digital technologies become more prevalent and widely used globally, the world playing field will be made level as it creates equal opportunity for individuals to have their voices heard, educate and enrich themselves and, in turn, lift themselves out of poverty.
One of Friedman’s many arguments is that in order to survive and thrive in this new world, people will need to identify what it is that truly makes them unique and base their career around those distinctive attributes. Sounds like all of us innerpreneurs are in good shape.
