{"id":6907,"date":"2013-08-08T01:25:23","date_gmt":"2013-08-08T05:25:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.elasticmind.ca\/innerpreneur\/?p=6907"},"modified":"2016-07-05T17:57:21","modified_gmt":"2016-07-05T21:57:21","slug":"takers-gonna-take","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.elasticmind.ca\/innerpreneur\/index.php\/2013\/08\/08\/takers-gonna-take\/","title":{"rendered":"Takers Gonna Take"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"ttr_start\"><\/div><p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/www.elasticmind.ca\/innerpreneur\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/TakeGive.png\" width=\"664\" height=\"248\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s really lovely to know that through giving freely, I can inspire someone to be more giving.<\/p>\n<p>Sometimes though, I encounter a person who consciously (or unconsciously) feels free to consistently take more than they give.<\/p>\n<p><strong>I need to watch my balance with them.<\/strong> For as much as I love to give, and to encourage it, I don&#8217;t enjoy feeling used.<\/p>\n<p>With this kind of person, I need to check in with my giving self, and be honest about who they are and what they want from me.<\/p>\n<h1>Meet the Taker.<\/h1>\n<p><strong>The Taker feels entitled to get more than they give.<\/strong> They feel owed \u2014 not just by me \u2014 but by the world.<\/p>\n<p>And they are driven to do whatever they can to get what they feel they deserve.<\/p>\n<p>For them, it&#8217;s not about an exchange, a give and take of equals, it&#8217;s about getting what they need.<\/p>\n<p>They are a taker, and they&#8217;re gonna take.<\/p>\n<p>All the giving in the world can not fill their lack.<\/p>\n<h1>I could blame the Taker.<\/h1>\n<p>But I stay away from them instead.<\/p>\n<p>They&#8217;re so caught up in their own stuff, their own feelings of lack, that they can&#8217;t possibly see my value, let alone their own.<\/p>\n<p>What they value is their needs fulfilled.
