Business from the inside out

They’re All Going to Laugh At You

by | Innerpreneurship

smirks

It scares me to stand behind the word Innerpreneur.

As much as it connects me to you, and encompasses my views on business, life and everything in between, I am conscious of how the word, a word that references that which is within us, appears to others.

Do you experience the smirks?

Perhaps in your social life spirituality is an open topic but in mine it is not. Reading this blog is more a window into my soul than most people get. Me, in person, unless I sense that you are open to it, you will only catch a glimpse of my spirit. It just isn’t something I share openly. I don’t like the smirks and whether it is wrong or right, I have no desire to share such an important piece of my Self with someone who is not open to it.

Business as a spiritual practice? Seriously?

In my life business and money are talked of ad nauseum but usually not in the way I see them. Seriously Tara, who cares about creating meaning when you can make more money? Score another smirk for me.

To put business and spirituality together – to speak about my spirituality openly and build my business around it, well… I feel open to mockery. And I am. And it scares me.

But whether I like it or not, no matter how traditional, less “hippie” people view it, the meaning behind the word Innerpreneur — it is my truth. And it will still be there with me whether I use this word or another.

The Credit We Give Ourself

Money can be very revealing. It can help us identify the places where we are allowing lack in our lives.

Our money, the credit we have, is a reflection of the value we place on our gifts, and as a result, the value the external world places on them.

When we find ourselves with an external debt it may be because we are not giving ourselves enough credit internally. We have not yet fully realized the value we create. The value we are. And thus we are in lack.

Love and Esteem

loveesteem

What if these two things were created equal?

What if wealth, beauty and status mattered as much as compassion, respect, care and value?

How would that change things?

What if my self-esteem (my view of wealth, beauty and status) was equal to my self-love (my view of compassion, respect, care and value)?

What if I focused on respecting my feelings (compassion), setting my boundaries (respect), ensuring my wellness (care) and cultivating my gifts (value)?

Would I find that my power (beauty, wealth and status) had grown as a result?

I Just Don’t Know

Questions2
Does it make me less professional or less able if I don’t have THE answers?

Is it so bad to “not know”?

I know experts want to be seen as right — but I just want to see everything.

I’m curious.

I want to think beyond the answers spoon fed to me by others.

I want to think beyond their attempts to assert their “knowing.”

More Questions Than Answers

I’ve been told those who “know” things are experts, and that they can help me make the right choices. I’ve been taught that when I have a problem, an expert will have my solution. And I’ve been led to believe that, by asserting my own “knowing,” I can create evidence of my own professionalism and abilities – and be an expert too.

To not know and to admit it, to be open and asking questions can feel wrong in the world of expertise. It can feel shameful to “not know”,
