Distracted by the Noise

What distracts you from your goals? What leaves you questioning the path you are currently on?

All around you are distractions and noise. People, places, and things clamouring for your attention, for your time, and for your energy. Some may have your interests at heart, while most have their own interests in mind. Sometimes, your interests may align but this can only be possible when you know what you need and want, outside of the noise.

The noise can be overwhelming and supremely distracting. I dare say that most of us spend our lives caught up in it, swimming in it, pursuing agendas and avenues that ultimately don’t serve us. We listen to what is loudest, most authoritative, most shiny—giving our personal power away, unaware of how much we’re giving up and how distracted from our self we’ve become. Until some thing, some one, some place begins to awaken us.

The very things that distract and block you from your path, powerfully, are the very things to support you in focusing on it. They remind you of what truly matters to you, by asking you, pushing you, persuading you to focus elsewhere. They test you and teach you about the other options for your life, and allow you to feel into these choices to determine what truly feels right for you.

The noise can be your guide; not towards what it is demanding from you, but towards what you need for yourself, what truly matters to you as an individual. Your distractions can help you to focus, and your blocks can be your support. It’s your choice how they influence the life you’re building.

The Motion of Emotion

My emotions are not me.

They are my energy, in motion. I am not responsible for my emotions—I am responsible for what I do with them.

It’s interesting to me how much my feelings change, how much I am in a state of shifting emotion. This awareness affirms that in fact my feelings truly are in motion, and it affirms how unhelpful it is when I try to hold onto the energy they bring. My emotions are in motion for a reason, and attempting to control their movement, by stopping it and/or holding onto it, does nothing for me. In my attachment to my feelings, I miss their point.

9 seconds.

I read that our anger lasts for 9 seconds, unless we attach to it, catch on to it, get caught up in it. 9 seconds for the emotion to move through us, if we let it. 9 seconds for the wave to pass.

In motion for a reason.

My emotions rise and fall, never staying steady. They move around and they are hard to catch. Growing wiser to their pattern, I’m trying to not control my emotions so much. Instead, I’m trying to let them be. Instead, I’m learning to ride their rise and fall, letting them lap at the shore of my awareness and then retreat. Responsible to the inevitable motion of my emotions, I’m understanding it’s not what I feel that matters but how I handle it.

Look around you.

Where, and with whom, are you spending your Energy?

Do you feel like your spending it wisely?

If not, it could literally be the reason why you are having issues with money. For money, too, is an Energy.

Reflecting on your “money situation” does it mirror back important information about how you spend your Energy?

What do your money spending habits reveal about your energy spending habits?

A Fair Exchange.

Is there anywhere that you are “spending” too much “Energy”? If so, this is a to pay attention to.

For your Energy is worth so much more than that.

Living in Creative Tension

Living in Creative Tension

The gap between vision and current reality is a source of energy. If there were no gap, there would be no need for any action to move towards the vision. We call this gap creative tension.”

It seems to me that when we allow ourselves to be in the gap between our dreams and our reality — to live in our own creative tension — we find our self most ripe with the solutions we need.

In this space we are living our questions, and the tense energy we create from “not knowing” activates our curiosity. This gap in “knowing” frees us to be the beginners we are.

If we can learn to enjoy the tension “not knowing”, and avoid those who “know” without questioning, I believe we can create our greatest possibility to discover our answers and close our gap between what is and what could be.
